PRICING

Sessions are $200. Here is exactly what that buys

Most trainers around here make you email to find out the price. I would rather you know before you call. One session with me is $200, one player at a time, on an outdoor court in Bellevue, Newport or Swope.

01 / THE PRICE

How much does basketball training cost with Blacktop Academy?

$200 per session. That is the published rate and it is the same for every player. Seasonal package pricing exists but is not published yet, so ask me for current numbers. Sessions are one player at a time, outdoors, with a plan built for that player.

$200 is above the published national range for private basketball training, which runs roughly $50 to $150 or more per hour, with group lessons around $30 to $50 and semi-private around $30 to $75 per player. I am telling you that rather than hoping you do not look it up. The typical published session length nationally is 45 to 60 minutes.

Here is the case for the number. It is one player, never a group, so nobody is standing in a line waiting for a rep. The plan is built specifically from that player's position, their body and the way they already play, which takes work before and after the session and not only during it. And the coaching comes from eight years at middle school, high school and college level, with both men's and women's programs.

Here is the case against it, which you should also hear. If your budget means $200 buys you one session a month and nothing else, a cheaper trainer you can see weekly may do more for your player than I will. Skill comes from repetition. Repetition needs frequency. One expensive session every six weeks is not a development plan, and I would rather say that than take the booking.

What is included: the session itself, the plan behind it, and drills you can take home and run on your own without paying me. What is not included: recruiting help, exposure, film, highlight tapes, calls to college or school coaches, gym access, equipment, or any promise about playing time, points or a roster spot. Nobody honest sells those.

02 / PACKAGES

Package options and what each one is for

Package pricing is not published yet. Ask me for the current numbers and I will give them to you straight.

  • 01

    Single session

$200, one player, one court. Good for a first session, a tune up, or a family who wants to see the work before committing to anything longer.

  • 02

    Offseason block

A run of sessions through the months without games, which is when structural changes get made: a shooting base, a handle, a usable weak hand. This is where the most ground gets covered.

  • 03

    In-season maintenance

Shorter, lower volume sessions spaced around a school schedule. The point is keeping skill sharp without taking legs away from the school coach and Friday night.

  • 04

    Summer package

The highest frequency option, built for a player with real time to spend and a clear target for the next season. Ask about current pricing and availability before summer fills.

03 / STRAIGHT TALK

Is $200 a session worth it for your family?

Sometimes yes and sometimes no, and the answer has more to do with your situation than with me. It is worth it when a player is willing to do repetition that is boring, when there is enough frequency in the plan for the work to compound, and when there is a specific thing that needs fixing that a group setting cannot address. It is worth it when you want somebody to tell you the truth about where your player actually is.

It is not worth it if you are buying it as a signal of commitment, or to keep up with what another family is spending. It is not worth it for a player who is already training so much that another session becomes an injury risk, and I will tell you when that is the case rather than cash the check. It is not worth it if you are expecting a roster spot, a scholarship or a recruiting connection, because I do not sell any of those and I have no way to deliver them.

If money is tight, ask me anyway. I would rather help you build a plan you can actually afford, even if that means fewer sessions with me and more work you run on your own, than have you spend $200 on something that will not stick.

05 / Questions

What people ask about this

Why is your price higher than the national range?

Because every session is one player, built on a plan made for that specific player, and coached by someone with eight years at middle school, high school and college level. The published national range of roughly $50 to $150 or more per hour covers a lot of group and semi-private work. If frequency matters more than individual attention for your player, a cheaper option you can afford weekly may be the better buy.

What do the seasonal packages cost?

I have package pricing, but it is not published yet, so I am not going to put a number here that might change. Ask me and I will tell you what the current rate is for the offseason block, in-season maintenance or the summer package. For national context, published seasonal package pricing runs roughly $350 to $800, per lessons.com.

What is not included in the price?

Recruiting services, exposure events, highlight film, calls to school or college coaches, gym access, equipment, and any guarantee about points, minutes or a college roster spot. What is included is the session, the plan behind it, and drills you can keep running on your own at no cost. Most improvement happens in those unpaid hours.

Do you offer group or semi-private sessions to lower the cost?

No. The work is one player at a time, because the plan is built from that player's position, body and habits, and because reps get diluted the moment there is a line. If group pricing is what your budget needs, published national group rates run roughly $30 to $50 and semi-private roughly $30 to $75 per player, and there is no shame in starting there.
